# Getting ready for our Double Egress Drills on Saturday, Oct 3rd!

Hi NRG Firewise Community!  
Learn how to GET OUT if/when wildfire reaches North Rodeo Gulch and we are ordered to evacuate. Choke points along NRG Rd mean all of us trying to use this narrow, damaged road would run directly into fire equipment and first responders coming the other way. Echoes of Lahaina, of Paradise; let’s not let it happen here!

Besides exiting north via Mountain View Rd or Laurel Glen Rd, we have 2 alternate ways for vehicles to get out of North Rodeo Gulch:  
(1) Amigo Rd to Santa Cruz Gardens to Soquel Dr  
(2) Chardonnay Rd to Yardarm Ct to Old San Jose Rd

Here is a map of these evacuation routes. Get familiar with them! Print out the map, load it in your mobile phone, make sure it’s available in your vehicle.

Join us October 3, 2026 for evacuation drills on two of these routes. Signs will show you the way. Here’s the schedule:

9:30-11:30: Amigo Rd to Santa Cruz Gardens to Soquel Dr  
12:15-2:15: Chardonnay Rd to Yardarm Ct to Old San Jose Rd

We will need volunteers to help guide people along these routes, and to conduct exit polls. Please step up!
