Amigo/Felicidad/Chaminade/Santa Cruz Gardens Egress Route

The Amigo Road Association just installed evacuation signs along Amigo and Felicidad Roads that lead out to Santa Cruz Gardens. They recently had the opportunity to use this egress route during a temporary road closure and it was a huge success. There are 2 locked gates at the end of the route that will need to be opened by the NRG Firewise Microcommunity leaders or Amigo/Felicidad residents.

You’ll notice that there are no signs on NRG indicating that there is an egress route up Amigo Road. Their residents prefer that the NRG Firewise community know that there is an egress route up Amigo and the signage they have on Amigo and Felicidad will guide drivers once they turn on Amigo Road to the egress route.

We now have 2 egress routes: Chardonnay to Yardarm to Old San Jose Road and Amigo to Felicidad to Chaminade, to Santa Cruz Gardens. Thank you to all of these property owners who have created these safe evacuation routes for all of us. We are grateful to them.

Thanks for posting that, Susan. For those of you who didn’t try the Amigo evac route this past spring, it’s important to note Amigo evac includes a half mile of rough one-lane dirt road. So it’s the evac route of last resort. Generally impassible in wet weather. And locked gates at either end of the route that will need to be opened by the NRG Firewise Microcommunity leaders or Amigo/Felicidad residents.
But if you need to use it in a dry weather emergency, it’s simple: just turn onto Amigo Road and follow the signs to get to the Santa Cruz Gardens neighborhood.
