Firemaps might be worth checking out

An article in the Santa Cruz Sentinel described this service yesterday:

If you’re just getting started, for handholding at modest price, if you haven’t time to do your own research, this might be the way to go. But first get a fire inspector to look at your property.

I talked with one of the Firemaps techs this morning. Their initial look at my property was via satellite photo, not quite up to date; but it did allow a rough estimate of risk, so they could suggest initial mitigation projects. If you decide to pursue their services to the point of drone use and/or personal on-site inspection, they’ll charge you I think about $150.

I told the tech their cost estimates for mitigation tasks are way out of line for our area. Of course it’s not necessary to use their preferred contractors.
