Good Morning,
This is our second RED FLAG WARNING of the fall.
Understanding Wildfire Warnings, Watches and Behavior
RED FLAG WARNING: Take Action. Be extremely careful with open flames. The NWS issues a Red Flag Warning, In conjunction with land management agencies to alert land managers to an ongoing or imminent CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER PATTERN. NWS issues a Red Flag Warning when fire conditions are ongoing or expected to occur shortly.
EXTREME FIRE BEHAVIOR: This alert implies that a WILDFIRE is likely to rage out of control. It is often hard to predict these fires because such they behave erratically, sometimes dangerously. One or more of the following criteria must be met.
moving fast, high rate of speed
prolific crowning/and or spotting
Presence of fire whirls
Strong convection (smoke) column
Also there is a planned power outage in our area today and tonight. Please be prepared in case your power goes out ie; batteries, flashlights, medical equipment, charge cell phones, etc.
PG&E has a map on the web for possible power outages, so far it looks like they will happen around Nisene Marks, could expand further.
This is when you take a look around your house to make sure you are prepared for a wildfire.
Check furniture on decks and patios, have your go bag ready, meds, full tank of gas in your vehicles, know your escape routes, listen to radios, tv for updates.
