We are trying to get the County to focus on making NRG Rd passable in an emergency. Many of us have expressed concern about obstacles to safe passage.
In a wildfire, people trying to evacuate via NRG Rd could encounter fire trucks and first responders coming the opposite way, creating potential bottlenecks where the road is narrowed by damage and obstructions. We do not want another Paradise, another Lahaina!
We need volunteers to identify the following by Monday July 20, providing photos where possible:
(a) The nearest street address to every place where the County says there is damage to be repaired, according to a list they provided (see below). They list each location by its “PM” (post mile, distance from the start of NRG Rd at its northern end, Mtn View Rd).
(b) The nearest street address (and/or PM) to any obstacle other than terrain that has been placed in the right of way (supposed to be 40 ft wide): where a vehicle could not get off the pavement because someone has put rocks or posts or other objects. Photos, please.
This will be easiest in a vehicle that has an odometer and/or trip meter showing fractions of a mile. Start at Mtn View Rd. The last PM where there is damage is just south of Hidden Valley Rd.
We need the results of this effort by Monday July 20, so we can respond to the County’s request for details.
