The RCD is offering free chipping and giving priority to Firewise communities who register between March 25-April 1. This program if for individuals so you’ll need to sign up yourself. Let me know if you register and I’ll send you the password.

The Resource Conservation District of Santa Cruz County (RCD) offers free spring-time chipping to county residents in areas at higher risk of wildfire. Please check the RCD Chipping Program website to see if your address is qualified for our program. Please read all the information on that webpage including the tutorial if you plan to apply for this service.
Early-bird chipping registration is available to residents in Firewise communities and begins March 25, 2025. This means Firewise USA recognized and communities that are far along in process. This early bird registration is password protected. Regular chipping registration for all county residents opens up on April 1.
