Santa Cruz County is going to practice a huge neighborhood emergency preparedness communications test. By using our MURS radios, we can give you vital information from the EOC (911 people), Central Fire, and others. We can also relay information back to them about our situation here on NRG.
Out of 300+ households in our NRG Firewise community, only 2 people joined us during the last test. Ugh! Really? We all need to know what’s going on so we can make smart decisions about how and when we plan to evacuate.
Join us on Monday, Aug 3rd, at 7:00 pm. Just listen and wait until you hear from us. We’ll be waiting to get a test message from the EOC to relay to you. After we get your check-ins or responses, we’ll use our ham radios to give the EOC a list of people who chimed in.
Let’s show the EOC and Central Fire that we have an active Firewise community with people ready to handle an emergency evacuation!
