Want to learn how to safely conduct a wood pile burn?

Join the Central Coast Prescribed Burn Association (calpba.org) and the
Resource Conservation District of Santa Cruz County (rcdsantacruz.org) for a
workshop on how to safely build and burn vegetation piles.

Pile burning is an important tool for homeowners creating defensible space in the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI). As such, we will discuss all the key steps of burning in the tri-county area: building the pile, permits that are
necessary, safely burning the pile and how-to simply make Bio-char. In addition, we will discuss the basics of defensible space and ways to create it with care for our coastal California ecology. The location was involved in the CZU complex and we will discuss post-wildfire restoration. This workshop does not require any previous experience and is perfect for both the backyard burner and the professional land steward.
