We’re doing a MURS test this Wednesday, April 12th, at 7:00-7:30 pm. Hoping we can reach more NRG neighbors during the week! Please charge your MURS radio and join us to see how far you can transmit.
We’re preparing for a big radio communication test with all of Santa Cruz County. ARES, CERT, and MURS radios will be working with the OR3, Central Fire, and other agencies to give updates on our status and to get updates about evacuation and other scenarios. This will take place on Saturday,
April 29th, at 10:00 am - 12:00 pm.
We will still have our regular 3rd Saturday MURS test for NRG Firewise this Saturday, April 15th, at 9:00 am.
Effective communication during disasters will save lives.
That’s fine Eric. Thanks for letting me know. Keith and I will run this drill. I won’t be here for Saturday’s drill (April 15th). Could you meet with me and Keith sometime next week (before April 29th) so we can discuss how to manage our 17 micro communities using MURS radios to talk to ARES and CERT outside of our NRG Firewise area?
Just get on your MURS radio between 10:00am-12:00 pm on Saturday, April 29th. We’ll be conducting a test with all of our Micro Communities. Keith will report out to ARES (hams) and CERTS as we will be part of a Santa Cruz Countywide communication test. OR3 will also participate.
The goal: learn how to communicate and report conditions in each Micro Community to Keith, Eric, or Susan, who will relay the reports to ARES, CERTS, and OR3.
Encourage your neighbors to join us. This is how we will communicate during a real disaster. We’ll share information about evacuation orders and other important info using the MURS radios.
