If you’ve been limbing up your trees and you’re ready to chip, the Santa Cruz Resource Conservation District (RCD) just launched their Fall Chipping Program on August 23, 2021.
Here’s what Matt Abernathy wrote:
"This season will be solely reimbursement, with the hopes that neighborhoods (of 8 or more homes) come together to get a lot of work done, and the reimbursement will be a flat rate of $250.00 per household or $1.00 per linear foot of private road cleared. Key things to note are that this will be a first-come-first serve incentive program, and we will be asking one individual to apply for reimbursement for the community (of at least 8 homes). The individual will need to signup to reserve a spot, and we will hold the spot for 30 days. The individual must know the number of households who will participate at the time of signup. The 30 days is to allow time for the chipping to occur and submit the reimbursement form, a W9 form, and the receipt from the licensed contractor. Unfortunately, if they miss the 30 days we will need to move to the next person in line. So a tip – get everyone organized and schedule the chipper to come, then signup.
We are opening the reimbursement tonight and it will be open until October 30th. No chipping will be accepted after October 30th.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions – although the above was fairly brief… I wrote more in depth information in the instructions (again, will be live tonight). For direct questions, please have people send them to the chipping@rcdsantacruz.org email as our whole team has access to that email."
